Dr. K. A. Clark School
Home School Liaison
Working within a
multidisciplinary team to promote coordinated health and related support
services, the Family School Liaison worker acts as an agent to the child,
family, school and community to provide information, support, crisis
intervention, and referrals to promote successful academic and social
development of the child.
The Family School Liaison Worker
acts as a liaison between the child/family and the referral service and must be
seen by the client as a support person, not a disciplinarian or adversary.
Students and their families may be referred to the Family
School Liaison Worker if they are experiencing social or emotional difficulties,
problems within the school setting, problems within the family or the community,
or have barriers to successful learning which requires professional services.
The Family School Liaison Worker may also provide ongoing support to families
whose children are receiving treatment or therapy from another service provider.
