This plant is called a bromeliad. There are many different species, all with pretty flowers at certain times of the year.
Sometimes it is nicknamed "the air plant", because it seems to live on air. It doesn't have to put its roots in soil. Instead, it puts its roots into the branches of a tree. Its leaves are hard, and they funnel rain into the plant's center. It makes food from the sun.
Tropical jungle, or rain forest, trees are fascinating. They usually have a lot of different plants winding around them, sitting on them, or sucking from them.
