The people are not miniature. Instead, the ferns are gigantic. These people are walking with me in the jungle. I'm standing up higher on the little hill. Imagine how high these ferns really are! Look at how green it is. It seemed to be one, flat green colour. There were no flowers during this season. Birds and other animals like to hide. I got tired of so much of the same green!

There is very little light inside the jungle, because the leaves on the tallest trees block it. This is the shrub layer. It is usually very dark and gloomy. 

When the jungle is cut down, it is impossible for new plants to grow because they are exposed to too much sun. The dead leaves and trees that normally make up the jungle floor aren't there to help new plants grow.
