I'm kissing a live piranha! It has very sharp teeth! There are actually over 30 species of piranhas. Only about 3 of them are carnivorous. The others eat plants.

They can tear apart an animal in a very short time. They look like normal little fish. But we put a thick stick in this one's mouth, and it snipped it in two instantly. Josef put his machete blade sideways in its mouth, and its teeth went "ching, ching!" on the metal blade.

In this picture, we are in Josef's canoe. Josef caught 5 piranhas on a hook (with raw chicken on it) over the side of the canoe. We dropped one in the canoe. As it flopped around, we all jumped and yelled. Josef yelled the most. In Portuguese he yelled at us to not jump in the river. He was afraid we might jump from the one piranha in the boat, into the many piranhas in the river! Not likely!

Later that night, Josef took us out in the canoe looking for little alligators by the light of the moon. We canoed between trees, hacking at vines, in the dark. Josef got out of the canoe and swam around looking for alligators. We eventually saw some; their eyes are red when you shine a flashlight on them. Josef even jumped on one to try to catch it. We thought he was crazy. He thought we'd like a picture.
