They are playing beach volleyball. Many beaches have permanent nets set up. They are very serious about the game. Their women's teams won silver and gold in the 1996 Olympics for beach volleyball.

Brazilians are also wild about football (what Canadians call soccer). They are very enthusiastic spectators, and even hire people to lead them in chants and singing. They seem to know all their athletes by first name. Brazilians are very excited about watching the sports on television.
